Germany’s Customs

In America, we cross our fingers to mean good luck. However, in Germany, they “squeeze the thumb”, done by folding the thumb in and close the fingers on it. We would say “I’m crossing my fingers for you”, whereas the Germans say “I’ll press my thumb for you”. The origion of this is unclear.
